What are my chances of getting Jio IPO allotment?
Under SEBI rules, when the retail portion is oversubscribed, every retail applicant is first eligible for one minimum lot, and lots are given by computerised lottery. Applying for more lots does not improve a retail investor’s chances.
- Retail: about 8.50 crore shares, or roughly 70.8 lakh lots of 12 shares, are reserved for retail. With retail subscribed only around 2.7 times, retail odds are far better than for most large Indian IPOs. If total valid retail applications are below about 70.8 lakh, every valid retail applicant can receive at least one lot.
- RIL shareholder quota: subscribed about 7.6 times, so odds are lower than in the retail category. Those who applied in both retail and shareholder categories have two separate chances.
- sNII / bNII: subscribed 10–16 times, so allotment is by lottery of minimum NII application size; expect low odds.
The exact ratio will be known only once the basis of allotment is published by KFin Technologies and the exchanges.
Got Jio IPO shares? What to do before listing
- Confirm demat credit on 27 October. Check your CDSL Easi or NSDL statement, or the holdings tab of your broker app.
- Know the listing-day timing. On 28 October, the stock trades in a special pre-open session (roughly 9:00–10:00 AM) and normal trading begins at 10:00 AM.
- Know the tax. Selling within 12 months attracts short-term capital gains tax at 20%. Holding for more than 12 months qualifies for long-term capital gains treatment at 12.5% above the annual ₹1.25 lakh exemption.
- Watch the anchor lock-in dates. 50% of anchor shares unlock on 25 November 2026 and the rest on 24 January 2027. These dates can add selling pressure.
Should I sell Jio shares on listing day?
Decide by your goal, not the listing price. Ask yourself:
- Was this money meant for the short term or the long term?
- Does Jio fit your overall equity allocation?
- Are you now too concentrated in one group?
Listing-day prices can swing sharply in both directions. Some investors sell half and hold half to balance both goals.
Didn’t get Jio IPO allotment? What happens now
- UPI mandate: the amount blocked in your bank account is released by 27 October 2026. No money is actually debited.
- Refund not received by 28 October? First contact your bank (for ASBA) or UPI app. If unresolved, raise a complaint with KFin Technologies, then on SEBI SCORES.
Didn’t get Jio IPO shares? Should I buy after listing?
Avoid buying on listing-day excitement. Popular IPOs often see heavy day-one buying, which can push prices well above the issue price. If you like the business, study its valuation calmly after listing.
Jio IPO GMP and expected listing price: is GMP reliable?
No. The grey market premium (GMP) is unofficial, unregulated and not a reliable predictor of listing price. It often changes sharply on allotment and listing days. The actual listing price is discovered in the exchange pre-open session on 28 October 2026.
The bigger lesson for investors
One IPO shouldn’t decide your financial plan. A portfolio balanced across equity and mutual funds, bonds, and goal-based planning matters more than any single listing.

Investors may consider booking profits on 50% of their allotted shares after listing, while retaining the remaining 50% for potential long-term growth. Global Crics could be considered for long-term holding, subject to the company’s fundamentals, valuation, and future performance.
